Holy Spirit-Inspired

Spirit Descending

watercolor on paper, 2005

By Bill Branch

"On the first Sunday after the Epiphany, we remember Jesus' baptism in the River Jordan. Each of the four Gospels tells of Jesus' baptism and all four mention the sign of a dove as a sign of The Holy Spirit empowering Jesus for ministry. In Hymn 297 from Hymnal 1982 we find the words,
Descend, O Spirit, purging flame, brand us this day with Jesus Name! Confirm our faith, consume our doubt; Sign us as Christ’s within, without." - Branch

The Spirit is Real

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. He is fully God. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, has a will, and can speak. He is alive.

The Holy Spirit is Tangible

Today's message is from All About God.com.

Holy Spirit:
Much More that an Ethereal Life Force
The Holy Spirit is not a vague, ethereal life force. He is not impersonal or unthinking. The Holy Spirit is a “person” equal in every way with God, the Father, and God, the Son. The Bible tells us that all the characteristics of God apparent in the Father and the Son are equally apparent in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is composed of intellect, emotions and will.

In 1 Corinthians 2:11, we see an example of the Holy Spirit’s intellect and will: “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”

In Romans 15:30, we see the Holy Spirit has emotion, as represented by the capacity to love:“Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;” Although the Holy Spirit has all the characteristics of God, He has specific roles and functions in our lives.

In John 16:13, we see the Spirit of Truth as our guide: “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.”

In John 14:26, we learn that the Holy Spirit is our Counselor and teacher: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

In 1 Corinthians 3:16, we see that the Holy Spirit lives inside us: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

In Acts 1:8, we understand where our power comes from: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you."

In Romans 8:14, we understand where our direction comes from: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

In Romans 8:26, we learn that the Holy Spirit is there for us in times of weakness and prayer: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” In Hebrews 9:14, we see that the Holy Spirit is eternal.

In 1 Corinthians 2:11, we see that the Holy Spirit is all-knowing. In Psalm 139, we see that the Holy Spirit is everywhere.

Recognizing the Holy Spirit's Presence

Today, the Holy Spirit brings us this podcast: Learning to Listen to the Holy Spirit

And also, the Holy Spirit brings us this website, which imparts the following:

Among those functions is that of revealer of truth. The Spirit’s presence within us enables us to understand and interpret the Word. Jesus told His disciples “when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). He reveals to our minds the whole counsel of God as it relates to worship, doctrine, and Christian living. He is the ultimate guide, going before, leading the way, removing obstructions, opening the understanding, and making all things plain and clear. He leads in the way we should go in all spiritual things. Without such a guide, we would be apt to fall into error. A crucial part of the Truth He reveals is that Jesus is who He said He is (John 15:26; 1 Corinthians 12:3). The Spirit convinces us of Christ’s deity and sonship, His incarnation, His being the Messiah, His sufferings and death, His resurrection and ascension, His exaltation at the right hand of God, and His role as the Judge of all. He gives glory to Christ in all things (John 16:14).
Another of His roles is that of gift-giver. First Corinthians 12 describes the spiritual gifts given to believers in order that we may function as the body of Christ on earth. All these gifts, both great and small, are given by the Spirit so that we may be His ambassadors to the world, showing forth His grace and glorifying Him.
The Spirit also functions as fruit-producer in our lives. When He indwells us, He begins the work of harvesting His fruit in our lives - love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). These are not works of our flesh, which is incapable of producing such fruit, but they are products of the Spirit’s presence in our lives.
The knowledge that the Holy Spirit of God has taken up residence in our lives, that He performs all these miraculous functions, that He dwells with us forever and will never leave or forsake us is cause for great joy and comfort. Thank God for this precious Gift – the Holy Spirit and His work in our lives!

Yet Another Financial Gift Arrives Unexpectedly

Today we once again thank the Holy Spirit for yet another large financial gift.
Arriving on Saturday, as before, an unexpected $7,500 gift was given by the Holy Spirit in reponse to prayers.
The phenomenal abundance that has been pouring in through prayer in the Holy Spirit in the last month is breathtaking.
It is truly evidence of the so-called "Law of Attraction" being applied.
These gifts are being attracted through prayer, they are being asked for in faith and belief in the name of Jesus Christ.

Another Gift from the Holy Spirit, the "Law of Attraction" in Action

Today, we again thank the Holy Spirit for another gift, which came yesterday, in the form of $8,000.
The blessings that continue to pour in are manifestations of faith, and they are the product of Jesus's words: "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive"--Matt. 21:22.

As stated before here, these blessings that have been poured unto the Chapel of the Holy Spirit this month, are the same dynamic described by those who are proponents of the Law of Attraction. It's a gift from the Holy Spirit, as evidenced by these blessings.

Today, the Holy Spirit presents this website
to us, which explains that Jesus Christ taught of the Law of Attraction.

Saturday

Giving and Receiving: The Holy Spirit in Action

Today, we thank God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, for the $10,000 gift, a manifestation of faith.

This gift from God was brought into existence this month through faith and prayer in Jesus Christ, communion with the Holy Spirit, and giving as Jesus taught in Matthew 25:31-46, as shown at this website .

The gift was manifested through faith, in Jesus Christ, who promised this gift:
Mk 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you."

Sunday

"Law of Attraction" on Oprah, Larry King Live, Ellen Degeneres, is Holy Spirit's Work

The "Law of Attraction" is real, and it is a gift from the Holy Spirit.
Brought into the public eye this year through the movie called The Secret, the Law of Attraction has recenly been featured on Oprah, Larry King Live and the Ellen Degeneres Show.

This is part of a movement in the world centered on positive thinking and the Law of Attraction.
However, the "positive thinkers" seen recently on these shows have yet to understand that it is the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost, the Counselor, the Comforter that they are experiencing. It is the Holy Spirit that imparts these supernatural powers. This movement is noteworthy, but it must be understoon that through faith these gifts are given in teh name in the name of Jesus Christ.

The positive thinker's say their experiences in receiving gifts through positive thinking is scientifically valid, and they are right, as there is nothing in the universe that was not created by God. But while they failed to recognize the Holy Spirit, they have certainly encountered the Holy Spirit's gifts though their manifestations of pure faith their "positive thinking" creates.

In the following passages are many examples of Jesus Christ's teachings about receiving the Holy Spirit's gifts through prayer:

Mat 7:7-11 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 "Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10 "Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Mat 18:19,20 "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20 "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

Mat 21:22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

Mk 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Luke 11:13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

John 14:13,14 "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 15:16 "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

John 16:23,24 "In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24 "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

1 John 5:14,15 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

Fifth Sunday after Epiphany

Luke 3:15-18. "The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ. John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." And with many other words John exhorted the people and preached the good news to them.

This Sunday, the Holy Spirit brings us this sermon, from Pastor Paul Goulet, teaching "eight ways the Holy Spirit moves in our minds to cause our thinking to change."

Luke 5:1-11

Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets." When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!" For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people." When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.

The Holy Spirit Gives Word of Caution

At about 8: p.m., Jan 24, the Holy Spirit presented this message, given through this website, as a word of caution in seeking the commune with the Holy Spirit through the so-called "Law of Attraction".

"A special warning to you: You must have strong knowledge of the Scriptures to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit. Other spirits can attempt to counterfeit the Holy Spirit--Be sure you are not fooled. A counterfeit spirit will strongly force a statement. It will not have any regard for the laws in the Bible. It does not mention Jesus Christ. "

and...

"**The Gifts of the Holy Spirit should be sought and used in the body of the church. The gifts are to make the church stronger by direct communication through the Holy Spirit. Another word of warning: Many of the gifts of the Holy Spirit can counterfeited by spiritualism. The gift of prophecy and tongues and interpretation of tongues is very different than a channeling experience of a spiritualist. Be sure you are solidly grounded to a church with experienced spiritual leaders. All gifts must be measured for validity by the Bible."

Prayer, Faith Bring Holy Spirit's Gifts

Observe today what Jesus Christ promised about prayer, in the Bible passages brought to our attention from the website Promises about prayer.

In upcoming weeks, we will be thoroughly examining the Law of Attraction movement that has surged in recent years throughout the world. As stated here before, let it be made clear that the Law of Attraction is a Holy concept, taught by Jesus Christ and given to those of faith. Gifts received from what many call the "Law of Attraction," are the Holy Spirit's work.

Also in upcoming weeks, we will look at the act of giving and its relation to receiving the Holy Spirit's gifts.

Positive Thinking Movement is Holy Spirit's Work

The Holy Spirit shows us this today:
As seen on CNN's Larry King Live in Nov.. 2006, many people are beginning to testify to have learned of the Holy Spirit's presence and experienced its gifts.

Included, over the course of two shows, were:

John Assaraf (OneCoach Founder)
Bob Proctor
JZ Knight
Dr. Michael Beckwith
Dr. John Demartini
James Arthur Ray
Jack Canfield
Joe Vitale
George Pratt, PhD
Jayne Payne

Watch the show here.

While King and the show presented the group of "positive thinkers" who've discovered that faith manifests gifts, they failed to acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is the "Secret" that they've found. The "Law of Attraction" they've tapped into are the gifts of manifested faith that is given by God when we believe in Jesus Christ. In that faith, when manifested, the Holy Spirt becomes present and awaits your prayer. Yes, it is a "Law of Attraction," as described on the show, the Holy Spirit does give to believers in Jesus Christ. Such as Jesus taught when he said:

"For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
(Luke 11:10)

The positive thinkers on Larry King are being touched by the Holy Spirit as it offers to guide them to faith in Jesus Christ. They've found the key in learning to manifest faith in the outcome of things, which is a gift from Jesus Christ, who said faith in Him is the way to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Such as this:
"Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you." (Jesus quoted by Mark 11:22-24)

and:

"Do not be afraid any longer, only believe." (Jesus quoted by Mark 5:36)

The positive thinker's say their experiences in receiving gifts through positive thinking is scientifically valid, and they are right, as there is nothing in the universe that was not created by God. But while they failed to recognize the Holy Spirit, they have certainly encountered the Holy Spirit's gifts though their manifestations of pure faith their "positive thinking" creates.

This is a noteworthy movement, and the individuals featured on the Larry King show will be presented in future posts.

In the name of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
Amen

Second Sunday after Epiphany

This Sunday the Holy Spirit brings us this sermon from Oak Park Church, Anderson, Ind.
www.oakparkchurch.net

powered by ODEO

God Bless all led here by the Holy Spirit in this moment.

This week we were richly and powerfully visitied upon by the Holy Spirit as we were directed in the creation of this online chapel. In the chapel this week, the Holy Spirit guided us to discover several websites of pastors and churches who are in communion with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit expressed the importance of manifesting faith in Jesus Christ, and instructed that faith is key to the Holy Spirit's intercession and presence. The Holy Spirit said opportunities to grow in faith, or to learn to discern the natural from the spiritual, are presented through seemingly coincidental premonitions, which may occur during periods of steeped spiritiual growth or awareness.

As the steward, this week the Holy Spirit imparted this insight: The chapel, and its ongoing creation, is the manifestation of a stream of direction and guidance from the Holy Spirit. All things in this online chapel are being placed here under direction of the Holy Spirit, just as those reading these words at this very moment were lead by, and are now in communion with the Holy Spirit, who is awaiting them in prayer.

Prayer:

"The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you" (John 14:26)

Novena to the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of divine love. Send forth Your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring righteousness of Your justice, and the unconditional nature of Your love. You are the strength and light of my soul. In You I live and move and have my being. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness, and I pray with all my heart for help in avoiding even the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, listen to Your voice, and follow Your inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. I implore You, Adorable Spirit, helper of my infirmity, to keep me always in Your grace. Give me grace O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son, to say to You always and everywhere, "Speak Lord for Your servant is listening."

In the name of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen

Supernatural and the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a teacher.
Many times when people are undergoing a period of profound spiritual growth, they experience what initially seem to be coincidental premonitions, which actually are communications with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit enters our midst when we have faith in Jesus Christ. When we manifest faith in Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit which God sent as a counselor and comforter, when we bring that state of faith into existence, the Holy Spirit becomes present with us, availing itself as a teacher and guide.
Seemingly random coincidences and premonitions, while often having no meaning or important message in and of themselves, are presented by the Holy Spirit as opportunities to grow deeper in our ability to manifest faith. When the premonition occurs, the Holy Spirit presents two choices: believe either it is a manifestation of the supernatural spirit world, or merely a coincence in the natural world. We are given the opportunity to practice manifesing our faith in the spiritual world, and learn to resist the influence of the natural world, and thus growing and enriching our contact and communications with the Holy Spirit. The premonitions occur most during periods of significant spiritual growth and can rise in frequency and intensity as the period of sprititual growth or progress steeps.

Have you experienced these kind of lessons from the Holy Spirit?

Nothing Is Impossible

(The Descent of the Holy Spirit
by Francesco Mura)

Today the Holy Spirit revealed this site to us:

http://www.spirithome.com/spirpers.html

Faith is key. Cultivate your faith in the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ, and God's Spirit will grace you. Do not let the things of the earth, of humankind, of your own desires and plans, come before faith in the Holy Spirit, and God's love will begin to work in your life.
In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Holy Encounters

The Holy Spirit brought this website to our attention today:

http://www.christian-faith.com/testimonies/1giftsofspirittestimonies.html

The Holy Spirit becomes present in faith. Strive to manifest faith in the Holy Spirit, and God's Spirit will respond. In Matthew 21:22, Jesus Christ says "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
It is faith, believing, that brings the Holy Spirit into our presence to counsel, teach, and guide us.
In John 14:26, we hear Jesus Christ say "The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

Have you encountered or witnessed the Holy Spirit?

God Bless Our New Chapel

Let us pray
Our Father who art in heaven.
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done.
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses.
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil.

Amen.

God bless this new online chapel! Halelujah!

Lord, as we begin this mission of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ, we create this chapel as a place for seekers to commune with the Holy Spirit.
Enrich this online chapel with your direction as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ and seek the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Let this be a place of peace where our souls are still enough to hear the Holy Spirit's messages, messengers and guides.

Let us pray for our new chapel

Heavenly Father, author and inspirer of all things holy,
hear our prayers for our new Church.
Send forth Your Spirit that we may humbly be guided by your Divine Will.
Touch our hearts with true generosity to raise up a house of God
for the inspiration and renewal of all your faithful.
We ask this in Jesus’ Name.

Amen.

Yahweh, Divine Architect,
Creator of our Human Family;
Risen Jesus,
Cornerstone of our Faith,
Lover of us all;
Spirit of Wisdom,
Builder of community,
Our Inspiration and Guide;
You call us to build up Your Kingdom.

Bless us with
generous hearts,
open minds,
greater unity,
renewed vision,
as we seek to build a house
for celebration and worship.

May it be a home where all are
welcomed, nourished, and empowered
to be Christ for others.

Amen.
